I bet Yahya Jammeh will never stop to amazed people with his erratic and irrational manner of running The Gambia unless someone stop him. Jammeh has been in power for two decades and in all those years he never knew that gambling was bad for the country, that it takes the country backward, that these vices often hurt the poor and disadvantaged, that people spent their wages to buy the lottery tickets, that The Gambia is predominantly Muslim and Christian as he stated in his unilateral press release.

Jammeh does not know Gambian economy is a free market economy, that it’s based on demand and supply. How can government just from no where announced that people should stop trading because their business model does not fit the values of the country without giving any form of time frame for them to either wide up or change their business. After all Gambia National Lottery is a government subsidiary, and the other casino businesses are the one propping himself and his party. Any investor either potential or existing, will think twice about investing in the country since the government is run by a dictator who gives no regard to people and their businesses. Any country that is considered developed, is not developed because they scare investors away rather they welcome them and create an environment that,  without hesitation they will be ready to invest any create jobs, economic growth and wealth.

The reasons why people spent their wages on lottery tickets Is simply due to his mismanagement of the country’s economy, low wages and  people have no disposal income, so they are forced into trying their luck at the casinos. Jammeh is best at throwing blame at people for his own failings but never ready to accept any as he term himself as immortal but your time is just at the corner.

Please relinquish power and give it to people that are competent and are ready to serve the country rather than themselves.
