The former UDP youth leader Solo Sandeng, who was tortured to death in police custody in the Gambia

Since day one when the news broke out that the United Democratic Party (UDP) youth leader, Ebrima Solo Sandeng was tortured to death in police custody in mid-April, there was no doubt about the veracity of the story. Lawyer Ousainou Darboe was the first person to break the news of the death of Solo Sandeng and that was why he took to the streets to demand Solo “Dead or Alive”. However, Earlier this month, Yahya Jammeh spoke to Jeune Afrique an African Magazine based in France and he was quoted to have said “it’s not new for people to die in custody and is only one person who died in custody, and they are asking him to investigate that, I will not,” Jammeh proudly said.

If anyone is in doubt about the death of Solo Sandeng in custody, today it has been officially confirmed by the Gambia government at the High Court in Banjul during the Habeas Corpus hearing filed on behalf of Solo, that he indeed died in custody. Breaking News: Plans to Kill or Poison Lawyer Ousainou Darboe by Dictator Jammeh Exposed!

The UDP leader Lawyer Ousainou Darboe and his supporters protesting demanding Solo Sandeng “Dead or Alive” in the Gambia

It has been reported earlier that there are concrete plans put in place by the Psychopathic Gambian leader Yahya Jammeh to physically harm the United Democratic Party (UDP) Leader Lawyer Ousainou Darboe who is currently incarcerated since mid-April. After a careful investigation by Gambia Voices, we can authoritatively report that, these reports to either physically killed Darboe or poison him in Mile II central prison are true. This has been confirmed by more than two senior security personnel close to the regime.

Sadly, this is a standard practice by Yahya Jammeh, who uses similar tactics to get rid of his perceived political enemies. The readers would recall that similar tactics were used to kill Solo Sandeng’s cousin Saidibou Hydara the then Interior Minister in the AFFRC military junta regime and more recently Baba K. Jobe, who were both poison in prison shortly before their release and of course scores of many other high profile prisoners.

Update on Nogoi Njie and Co: They have been moved to Janjanbureh Prison in CRR and Attending Court in MansaKonko in LRR

Update on April 14 arrestees: It was reported on Tuesday, June 14th that Nogoi Njie and Co were being moved from Mile II central prison to an unknown location. However, it has been confirmed from the past hour that, they have been moved to Janjabureh prison, some 235 km from Banjul. The detainees have been transferred to Janjanbureh prison because Jammeh and his masquerading judiciary has moved their court proceedings from Banjul to MansaKonko.

Mansakonko court which does not have the mandate or the jurisdiction to preside over the case. Meanwhile, Nogoi Njie and Co are without their lawyers but dictator Jammeh is still adamant for the court to proceed with such illegal court case. 
The April 14 protesters where taken to court in Mansakonko today without their lawyers, as the lawyers vowed not to attend Jammeh’s Kangaroo court which lacks the legal jurisdiction to preside over the case. Continue reading
